Cervical Back Pain

Back pain is considered “cervical” when it presents itself in the upper part of the back, in the shoulder girdle region, or into the neck. Sometimes the upper back pain can translate into the chest. This refers to the cervical section of the vertebrae. Pain in this region is often caused by heavy work in the arms and shoulders or poor habits of movement in your neck and head.

For cervical pain, your Harrisburg NC chiropractor may adjust your upper back, your neck, or your shoulders in order to restore proper alignment.

If your cervical back pain is a result of an injury or trauma, we can take gentle measures in order to rehabilitate your body in our chiropractic office.

Thoracic Back Pain

Thoracic back pain exists in the middle section of your back. This refers to the thoracic section of your vertebrae. People with middle back pain often struggle with bending at the waist or twisting, sometimes even reaching. Thoracic back pain can manifest in the ribs and sides of the body and affect both the hips and the chest, depending on the way it is presented. Oftentimes, thoracic back pain is caused by strain in the back, but can also be a result of poor posture, trauma, or disc pain. Spinal decompression works very well for thoracic back pain.

Lumbar Back Pain in Harrisburg NC

Lumbar back pain, sometimes referred to as lumbago, is back pain that presents itself in the lowermost portion of the back. Sacral pain also falls into this category. Lumbar back pain can coexist with or spread into pain in the hips, upper legs, pelvic area, and buttocks. If the pain shoots from the lumbar spine through to the buttocks or upper legs, or includes numbness, this may be a sign of the type of nerve pain called sciatica. Other lumbar back pains may be caused through strain or poor technique in lifting, bad posture, and a variety of other hazards.
